I’ve read all of David’s books each of which are different in their subject, approach and style. He is very knowledgeable, versatile and has a habit of finding gaps in the market. I don’t mean this from a commercial or financial perspective - he knows what has not been written and what whisky enthusiasts would like to read about. The Pioneer Spirits book is one that can be binged in short order or enjoyed over a longer period, chapter by chapter. David’s writing style is very enjoyable, informative and light hearted - notwithstanding his serious and professional approach to whisky. I throughly recommend this book to anyone new to whisky, to anyone brave enough to call themselves an expert and everyone in between. Looking forward to the next book David.
A lovely romp round the new breed of Scottish distilleries capturing a snapshot of the interesting whisky landscape in 2024. A wonderful, comfortable and easy read. A real sense of authenticity, of direct conversation with the author comes through the pages.
