Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Ripe pineapple and mango, honeydew and cantaloupe melons, bright and sweet green apples, and honey and honeycomb. Tarte tatin with vanilla cream, shortbread and custard cream biscuits develop.
Palate
Rich and oily in texture, with a millefeuille of vanilla cream and fruit: layers of milk bottle sweets, apple sauce, custard creams, pineapple cubes, Garibaldi biscuits and dried mango. Baking spice notes build alongside gentle warmth.
Finish
Long and softly spicy, with vanilla cream and nutmeg interspersed with orchard and tropical fruit flashes.
Producer's Notes
Nose
Desiccated coconut with milk chocolate aromas lead to vanilla pod and butterscotch.
Palate
Tropical fruit flavours combine with heather honey, cantaloupe melon and malted cereal.
Finish
A medium length, nutty finish with citrus.

Glenburgie distillery’s whisky is seldom seen as a single malt, and long-aged examples are particularly unusual. This 28-year-old, 1996-vintage whisky has been bottled exclusively for us by Gordon & MacPhail as part of the Connoisseurs Choice range, and shows off the distillery’s classically fruity character, amplified by years in a single refill bourbon barrel.
About
Gordon & MacPhail
Gordon & MacPhail is one of Scotland’s oldest independent bottlers, starting out as a grocers in Elgin in 1895. Apprentice John Urquhart worked with founders James Gordon and Alexander MacPhail, specialising in the purchasing of wine and spirits took over the business in 1915, the Urquhart family has run it ever since.
The fourth generation of the Urquhart family now leads the company, which now focuses on whisky. G&M also owns Benromach and has built their own new distillery – The Cairn – which started distilling in 2022. These, along with the unrivalled stocks of whisky it has in its warehouses, keep Gordon & MacPhail as one of the biggest names in Scottish whisky, all around the world.
