Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange

    • Nose

Toffee and sultanas, apples and custard, toast with honey, Florentines and barley-sugar pips, with floral notes developing with time. Under the lighter, fruitier character there is some weight, with malt loaf and fruity hops sat alongside candied orange peel with a touch of bitter pith.

    • Palate

The rich core of the nose continues into the palate, with toffee fudge dotted with bright sultana fruitiness and candied peel. Stewed stone-fruit builds, with peach-upside-down cake alongside gentle baking spices and a touch of polished oak.

    • Finish

Spiciness slowly fades, leaving bake apples, touches of custard and a dusting of orange zest.

  • Cara Laing, Douglas Laing

    • Mocha, barley and peaches on the nose with fudge, treacle, and dried fruits on the palate. The finish lingers on and on with baking spice and brown sugar.
