Product Description
This outstanding Green Spot offers a perfect balance of fruity pot still whiskey and creamy, spicy American oak influence. The palate offers juicy notes of tangerine, pear and apple pie, alongside fragrant clove and cinnamon. Water brings out more citrus oils, vanilla and that famed pot still whiskey spiciness. This bottling was drawn from a single bourbon barrel filled at Midleton distillery in 2013 and is available exclusively at The Whisky Exchange.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Joe Rogers, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Intensely fruity, with pears, green apples, nectarines and yellow plums. Pastel de nata and caramelised white chocolate lead into bright notes of sherbet and lemon oils.
Palate
Almond croissants, rhubarb crumble, green apple sweets, wheat beer and more lemon. Then those famous pot still spices arrive, bringing white pepper, fennel seeds and a touch of cinnamon. There’s also a botanical side with orange flower water, wildflower honey, jasmine tea and gentian liqueur.
Finnish
Juicy with more apples and pears joined by candied citrus and a slice of green mango.
Notes
The complexity and balance is remarkable with the American oak influence bringing things together nice but not exerting itself too much over the spirit. A great cask of a great Irish whiskey.
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Layers of fruity apple: sour green, sweet red and green, and apple candy. Vanilla cream, buttery pastry and softly spiced apple-pie filling follow. The fruitiness continues with gummi bears and a touch of ripe pear. The vanilla becomes more complex, showing tonka bean florality, spice and coconut.
Palate
Crisp fruit also leads on the palate, with the gummi bears reappearing and diving into a basket of apples. Spice builds, with cinnamon and nutmeg joined by anise and mint fondant. Sponge cake with candied peel and polished oak develops.
Finish
Juicy apples, pears, mango and candied citrus, with gentle spice and gentle vanilla.
Pure Pot Still Whiskey
The Spot Whiskeys work beautifully in a variety of different cask types. Over the years, we’ve seen fantastic examples finished in sherry, Marsala and sweet Malaga wine casks. However, there’s something particularly special about this example matured in a single bourbon barrel and the way it offers a clear expression of that famous pot still spirit. After 10 years in American oak, it’s perfectly rounded out but still fresh and vibrant. This is Irish pot still whiskey at its very best, presented without any added water, colouring, or chill filtration.
