I never could manage English style gin- too reminiscent of aftershave, but there are some interesting Dutch genever-(and corenwijn) around....esp. the older ones,. (I have recently discovered some Scottish gins which actually taste of juniper ( Caorun,f.ex)....now, those I can enjoy, too.

Bols Jenever is a very old acquaintance; back in the 'fifties I worked in the British Cameroons. The Agricultural Supervisor was a Dutchman who, after each monthly meeting,insisted that we downed in one,a small glass brimmed full with Bols which had been heavily laced with Angostura. We nicknamed it "Sander's Blood" after him.
