Review: Stratmill 12 Year Old (Flora & Fauna) The Verdict: A rare encounter with a "ghost" distillery DNA, but lacks the depth for its current market position. Nose & Palate: The profile is quite lean and modest. There is no broad flavor palette or complex layering to explore here. It is a very straightforward, light, and delicate malt. While pleasant, it feels somewhat "thin" for those accustomed to more robust offerings. Finish: The finish is remarkably short. It dissipates almost immediately, leaving very little to contemplate. Final Thoughts: This bottling serves as a clean expression of the distillery’s core DNA—essentially a glimpse into a spirit usually reserved for major blends. It is a suitable choice for those who prefer an uncomplicated, "easy-drinking" whisky that doesn't demand focus or deep analysis. However, given the current lack of discounts and its rising status in the Flora & Fauna series, buyers should approach this with clear eyes. You are paying for rarity and the opportunity to experience an elusive distillery, rather than for a rich or complex sensory experience. It is a pleasant introduction to Stratmill, but at its current premium, it is more of a collector's curiosity than a value-driven malt.
A cracking dram.... I shared with friends and ended up buying several more bottles
this is wonderful.......the tasting notes are spot on. the only drawback is it's too easy to drink - i'll be needing another bottle!!
