A rich, sherry-cask-matured whisky from Benromach, bottled specially for The Whisky Exchange. We love Benromach's gently peaty character, still a rarity in Speyside, and this single-cask bottling has it in spades, married with a rich and treacly body layered with dried fruit, thanks to its maturation in a sherry hogshead. It's packed with raisins and stewed apples, as well as a touch of softly smoky cinder toffee, all perfectly balanced.

Tasting Notes

Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
- Nose
  Chocolate-covered cinder toffee, coal stoves, Portuguese custard tarts, salted caramel and hay. Fruity notes develop: glacé cherries, barbecued apples and stewed berries. Bittersweet black treacle notes lurk.
- Palate
  Rich and dark to start, with spiced sponge and fruit cake leading to dates and treacle. Raisins, cherries and baked apples sit at the core, with hints of vanilla toffee and fudge developing. Black liquorice and dark berry notes build, along with polished oak and driftwood.
- Finish
  Fragrant, freshly sawn oak and old polished tables linger, joined by baked apples and baking spice.
