Laizhou Distillery is located in Qionglai, Sichuan, the historic first stop on the Silk Road west of Chengdu. Before constructing the distillery, the founders visited more than 100 distilleries worldwide, ensuring that Laizhou captured the very best practices from across the global whisky industry.
Guided by the philosophy “born from nature, live with nature,” Laizhou Distillery is committed to sustainability and carbon neutrality. This dedication has earned the distillery China’s highest environmental certification, setting a new benchmark for eco-conscious whisky production in China.
Laizhou’s Chinese Single Malt Whisky is matured in a carefully curated combination of Chinese fortified wine casks, new American oak, Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and ex-American bourbon casks. This diverse cask maturation creates a complex and distinctive flavour profile inspired by Chinese Rock Tea.
On the palate, the whisky reveals elegant notes of red apple, pear, cinnamon, cream cake, and dried fruit, delivering depth, balance, and a refined mouthfeel. Already award-winning, Laizhou Single Malt represents an exciting and innovative addition to the global whisky scene and showcases the rising quality of Chinese whisky craftsmanship.

Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Freshly sliced sweet and sour apples, sugared almonds and buttered white toast. Gummi bears and wine gums sit in the middle, surrounded by fresh and candied orange and lemon peel. Baking spice and dried apricots develop.
Palate
Zingy and sweet to start, with lemon zest and sour apples balanced by candied peel and butter toffee. Dark oak sits right at the back with cherries and sultanas. Spiced sponge cake builds through the middle, joined by fruity boiled sweets, grass, green leaves and red apple skin.
Finish
Spiced apple sponge cake with candied lemon slices and a touch of youthful green wood.
