Bombay SapphireGin

Launched in 1987, Bombay Sapphire quickly became the embodiment of the new wave of gin, with its bright-blue glass and stylish packaging. The Bombay Sapphire distillery moved from Warrington in Cheshire to Laverstoke Mill in Hampshire in 2014.

How is Bombay Sapphire made?

Unlike many gins, Bombay Sapphire is distilled with vapour-infusion baskets – the vapour from the distilled spirit passes through the basket of botanical flavours, picking up their flavour along the way. This method is thought to give a softer, more delicate gin than simply adding the botanicals to the spirit while it is distilled.

Is Bombay Sapphire actually blue?

No – the blue is just the colour of the glass; the gin itself is crystal clear.

Bombay Sapphire Gin vs Bombay Dry Gin

There are differences between Bombay Sapphire Gin and Bombay Dry Gin. Bombay Sapphire is bottled at a slightly higher ABV (40% vs 37.5%), and the recipes vary, too. Bombay Sapphire uses an extra two botanicals in the mix – cubeb berries and grains of paradise – for a softer spirit.
