Finally, one of the most anticipated releases of the year has arrived - Mackinlay's Rare Old Highland Malt has been carefully replicated over the last two months in the lab of Whyte & Mackay's Richard Paterson, after being carefully extracted from the ice underneath Polar explorer Ernest Shackleton's hut in the Antarctic, where it had lain for over a hundred years. Three original bottles from the find were flown to Scotland in W&M owner Vijay Mallya's private jet, where samples were carefully extracted with a syringe for 'The Nose' to recreate. The original bottles have now been flown back to new Zealand en route to being returned to their original resting palce in the ice.
