I have one of the original bottles - Ruby Foo's the Chinese Restaurant made Ginger Martinis using this back in the day - my friend and I each found a bottle many years ago - I just checked and I still have about half a bottle - I remember looking all over New York for it and no one had it anymore. It was such a wonderful recipe I can't imagine why they ever stopped making it.
I happened to discover four of the larger bottles in a small package store covered in dust in 2017. Two were in their original boxes, with the total for all four coming to $100 even. The owner then included the Canton Cocktail Book he had up on a high shelf, as well as a small nip of the stuff, also covered in dust. They had to have been their for at least 20 years! I tried the nip, and sure enough, intense ginger up front, but with a smooth honey finish. Definitely different from the current Domain de Canton offering.
