A fantastic bourbon, very smooth and easy to drink, a class above the original Jim beam so chose double oak

An excellent Bourbon. If you are an existing fan of Jim Beam, but like to try something a little extra...give this a go! It is not too far away from the white expression, but has a greater depth and woodiness, with ever-so-slight vanilla and smokiness (although much more slight than some of the peers). It has been on offer many times since it's release, and I would heartily recommend picking up a bottle for those cold winter nights. Having to spend an evening in Nov in a caravan, let me tell you this is a very welcome companion overnight in those conditions!!

I like it much better than the 8 year old Beam --- smoother, more delicate without the burn. So much better that any of the Jacquie Danielles. Mellows out the 4 year old Beam, especially the Beam "Flavors" and entices me to keep it in my whiskey rotation.

better than small batch, almost as good as single barrel top shelf beam

A well balanced bourbon, smooth and delicate, heading towards a Tennessee whisky. Mellow notes of butterscotch and leathery tannins. Hints of raisins, burnt sugars. One of the best Ive tried.

A remarkably restrained and nuanced dram, given Beam's notoriety for extremely sweet bourbon. They have definitely learned something from their colleagues at Maker's Mark Distillery and the corporate office at Suntory. On first taste, my immediate reaction was "This is an American version of Hibiki 12 that just happens to meet the rules to be called a bourbon." There really IS that much floral / grassy note in its mouthfeel. This bourbon is light, airy almost, despite that double-oak treatment which SHOULD make it more dense. Letting it linger on your tongue brings out some of the heat, some of the bright coffee, and letting it get some air hit me with some serious eucalyptus and cinnamon. There's almost no lingering aftertaste, although it may depend on whether you take it straight, on the rocks, or cut with some water. If you cut with water or take it on the rocks, the water or ice should be as neutral as possible. I can see softened water really killing this whiskey's flavor. This is a VERY intriguing bottle. I paid $23 USD for a 750ml bottle, which is affordable compared to Maker's 46, or Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. I'd argue that you shouldn't compare those whiskies to this. It has something different on offer. I might not add it to my regular drinks cabinet, but I wouldn't be offended if I was offered a glass at a party. Not one bit.
