This 2015 edition of A Midwinter Night's Dram marks Glenmorangie's first bottling in resurrection of an old tradition: at the end of each year their master distiller would create a special single malt for select craftsmen, to say thank you for all their hard work.
This is a marriage of whiskies matured in bourbon and oloroso sherry casks – a warming, Christmassy whisky that's enjoyable from the top of the elegant bottle all the way to the Bottom.

Tasting notes from the producer
Nose
Notes of orange marmalade, toffee, walnuts and mulled wine; tones of wine-soaked fruit, Christmas cake and a distinct whiff of musk or incense.
Palate
A rich, warming, peppery texture leading into myriad flavours of chocolate orange, ginger, walnuts, praline and some sweet butter candy.
Finish
A soft, medium strength, creamy finish, with further notes of malt biscuit and plump raisins.

A fabulous drop, warm sweet and buiscuity. Its so good its now hard to find at less than £100 p/bottle. However I have stash I picked up earlier. I have kept tow bottles for my self and the rest looks like a nice investment or a drink for a couple of years to come.
A very lovely dram, purchased in December 2017 and kept back after opening to see how it develops. Sat with a dram in December 2018 and thoroughly enjoying. On the nose, lots of fruity, cakey notes and warm orange punching through. On the palate, that orange develops into a warm peppery ginger and then sweet chocolate notes kick in, further developing into a smooth, creamy and malty finish.
