Visited a store, just yesterday, which had three bottles of this very nice whiskey, still on the shelf. Needless to say, I left the store with all three bottles in my basket. One of my favorite whiskeys, and well priced. If you find it, buy it!
Delicious and so undervalued until Jim Murray named it #1. Don’t hesitate to buy this. The other top 2 whiskeys in his bible are 1200$ US plus if you can find them.
Nice heat, can definitely feel the extra proof. Hot on the nose and through the finish. Tried it neat, then added a cube and it smoothes out a bit.
The initial flavors I got off this bottle seemed a little astringent - sort of like a tongue depressor on my palate, that being said, it does open up to more nutty, vanilla notes. The finish is fairly smooth considering it is over 90 proof. Maybe one cube of ice? The price of this bottle is still a deal considering the "new" distilleries just coming on the market and retailing for double the price of this bottle. It is a "good" buy!
This is an amazing bourbon, bursting with flavor and not nearly as strong or hot flavored as it's alcohol content would warrant.
