A massive success as the island representative in Diageo's 'Classic Malts' series, Talisker 10yo's profile keeps increasing as more fans discover its intense coastal spicy, peaty character. A truly elemental malt.Tasting Notes (2)

Tasting Notes by Dave Broom for Whisky Advocate
Another that should need no introduction. The thing to look for in Talisker, as with all smoky whiskies, is sweetness that give the requisite balance to the drying effect of smoke. Underneath Talisker's smoke, which ain't as all-pervading as Lagavulin, is a sweet pear-like quality. When young there are notes of the land: heather, moor, sweet seaweed, and a finish that has a distinctive cracked black pepper hit.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Powerful peat-smoke with sea-water saltiness, the liquor of fresh oysters, a citrus sweetness.
A rich dried-fruit sweetness with clouds of smoke and strong barley-malt flavours, warming and intense. At the back of the mouth is an explosion of pepper.
Huge, long, warming peppery finish with an appetising sweetness.

I first tried 18 yr. old Talisker while vacationing on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. I was instantly smitten with its flavor color, aroma, finish. The whole experience was as phenomenal as the Isle! Upon returning home to Albuquerque NM, USA my first stop on the way home from the airport was my favorite liquor store. Alas, I discovered the 18 yr. old was no longer available in the U.S. The proprietor had sold his last bottle for $400 U.S. I settled for a bottle of Storm and another of Skye with no disappointment. Talisker truly represents the glory of Skye!
Nose: A pleasant wave of smoke and brine. Brings to mind a woodfire by the sea. Oak lingers in the background, along with a hint of warming spice. Taste and mouthfeel: Smoke, salinity and honey-like sweetness in harmony. None overpowers the other. Slightly spicy finish, pepper-like. Neither overly viscous, nor watery, the mouthfeel is pleasant. Overall: In terms of value-for-money, easily among the best I've had.
I’m starting to think there might be such a thing as bad batches. The last bottle I got tasted watery and had very little of the body and strength I’ve come to expect. Quite disappointed.
Lovely and smokey. Thanks Cabin Pressure for peaking my curiosity about this great malt and Burlington day!
Quickly becoming my "go to" . Ticks all the boxes.
