Real Wimbledon Strawberries
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When life gives you thousands of uneaten strawberries from the 2020 Covid-cancelled Wimbledon tennis tournament, make gin.
Sipsmith Strawberry Smash was made using the 2020 harvest from the Kent farm that exclusively supplies the tournament with strawberries, and, as well as being a celebration of traditional British flavours, it’s a testament to the good that can happen when you keep calm and carry on (drinking).
The Strawberry Collins
The Collins is a style of sour cocktail (a combination of spirit, sweet and sour ingredients) that's served long with soda to create a fizzy and refreshing drink. Sipsmith’s Strawberry Smash is the perfect backbone for a Collins, creating a sweet and sour sparkling delight that is the quintessence of summer.
Ingredients
- 50ml Sipsmith Strawberry Smash Gin
- The juice of half a lemon
- 15ml sugar syrup
- Soda water
- Fresh strawberries
Method
Fill a tall glass with ice, then add the gin, sugar syrup and lemon juice, and stir. Top with soda water, stir very gently and then garnish with fresh strawberries.
