  • Tasting Notes by The Whisky Exchange

Nose: Soft, rounded and fruity. Sultanas and figs drizzled with honey and sprinkled with nutmeg.

Palate: Rich with dried fruit and spice – dark fruit-cake notes. Orange peel, singed raisins and prunes.

Finish: Surprisingly dry, with fruit and spice.

It has a sweet nose. Sweet and spicy on the tongue with hints of raisin and vanilla. Lingering sweet finish. I picked my bottle up a week ago from a local shop. When I spotted it I grabbed it immediately as it was the only bottle they had. When I went to pay for it they had to ring it up as a general merchandise as this one was not even in their system - tells me I was supposed to have this bottle. I will be getting as many more of this expression as I can so as to always have at least one on the bar at all times. Makes me eager to try the other expressions from Edradour.

5 years ago I visited Scotland (from Australia) and asked a local Scotch Merchant what he recommended, and from that I bought a half bottle of Edradour 10 yr old. I love a good Single Malt, but this was the best I''d ever tasted.. Sadly it wasn''t available in Australia!! I hit up anyone I knew heading over to the UK and managed to get a couple more bottles, then, when my parents visited, they picked up a bottle, but instead of getting two... the person they bought if from said "if he likes the 10 year old, he''ll LOVE the 12 year old Caledonia - and he was right, its smooth and buttery, it melts down the back of the tongue, I''m a real lover of Highland and Islay Malts (not so much Speyside), and this one tops all I''ve ever tasted before.

I prefer the Oloroso taste so this was a beautiful combination for me

Picked up a bottle last week from the shop in Vinopolis. After discussing my tastes in other whiskys and bourbons this was one of several recommended. Just opened it this evening and had a pour. Absolutely amazing. Not overly-sherried at all, pleasant notes of vanilla and caramel with a pleasant edge but no burn to speak of. I've paid much more and gotten much less from other bottles. I'll keep this around as long as I'm able to find it.

picked up a bottle in St. Maartin a month ago - this is an excellent value - lots of flavor, while smooth at the same time. Very good dram and well worth the purchase price. Lenny R. March "13

Sure wish there were more bottles available in Ontario, Canada.

Nose is sweet and fruity esp raisins, taste is creamy with a nice amount of pepper and some sweetness coming through, then a slightly bittersweet yet typical highland edge in a long finish. A reasonable sherried malt.

    Nose is sweet

This is one of my most favourite so far. As a novice to whisky drinking I've not tasted many compared to the number found in these web pages but a very nice dram nonetheless, full of flavour. Oloroso cask finish is just perfect.
