Product Description
A bottling of Linkwood as part of Gordon & Macphail's Private Collection series, with an interesting red wine cask finish. The casks originally matured Cote Rotie, a red wine from the north of the Rhone region, and the finishing complimented an initial maturation in bourbon casks.

Comment
NoseA strong sour note. Cider apples, cider cellar. Antique shop. Opening on sweeter notes. Caramel, barley sugar. A touch of burnt wood.
PalateDry and crisp. The oak grips the palate. Bittersweet apples, chestnut purée.
FinishDry but the bitterness has gone. A touch of sandalwood in the back.
CommentsAn interesting profile. As the wood takes the lead but gives in to the fruit in the end. Not for the sweet tooth.
Producer's Notes
After finishing in the finest Cote Rotie casks for 30 months, this whisky has developed rich, summer fruit aromas with vanilla and roaster malt notes.
