Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes by Rocky
Nose
Rich and pronounced fresh-fruit notes: apple, pineapple and papaya, with malt and toffee in the background, along with a hint of cinnamon.
Palate
The richness continues, but with the fruit notes of apple and pineapple superseded by prominent notes of nut and spice: hazelnut, nutmeg and clove.
Finish
Medium to long, with the fruit and nut slowly dissipating to leave the spicy flavours.
Comment
A rich and spicy whisky, with the added complexity that the additional year’s maturation gives, compared to its predecessor. It may not be priced in the everyday whisky bracket, but its approachability and fullness of flavour mean it’s not a whisky that should only be enjoyed on special occasions.
Producer's Notes
Appearance
Medium gold with a rich glow.
Nose
Awash with red apple, ripe melon and fresh banana. Heavenly and well rounded, it drifts into hot porridge topped with brown sugar.
Initial taste
Full bodied, round and rich. At first macerated fruits, marzipan and walnuts; then warm spices, dry cocoa and lingering Seville marmalade.
Finish
Long, warm and dry.
Comments
Remarkable depth. Each glass unveils more layers.

I have indeed tasted this scotch, bought when we visited the Glengoyne distillery in July 2022. We had enjoyed the tour, and went above our usual price point to buy a bottle of the 18. Imagine my disappointment upon opening it with great anticipation when we returned home to Montréal, Canada, and discovering that the first and predominant taste was that of mildew. Perhaps a faulty cask?
Pretty bland for an 18yo.Thought the 12yo was just as good.Certainly not worth the inflated price!
Absolutely stunning! Smooth as the finest silk. Aging is perfect for my pallete
Yes. Very smooth and aged well in the Sherry casks used.
Excellent, smooth with great aftertaste. Toured the distillery while in Scotland – great fun!
