Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Billy A

    • Nose

Woodily spiced custard (nutmeg and cinnamon), apple crumble, white pepper, rich caramel, rhubarb and custard sweets, gummi sweets (red ones), sandalwood, damp green leaves, hints of sour wood, and the traditional Glenmorangie honeyed sweetness.

    • Palate

Soft and oily mouth feel, big vanilla, hot spices and lashings of good wood – sweet toasted oak, deeply flavoured dark wood and fragrant freshly sawn boards. Underneath the wood there’s sharp green apple, as well as some tropical fruit and some boiled sweet sweetness.

    • Finish

Vanilla cream and woody spice, especially a lingering cinnamon tingle.

    • Comment

It’s certainly no shrinking violet, with lots of wood as you’d expect. However, it doesn’t go too far and is a very drinkable dram.

    Grant,

Probably the best dram I have ever bought. I bought it for Fr80 in Geneva!! Look at the price now! Glenmorangie at their best and shows that they can do something very, very special too.

    DJ,

I really enjoyed this one, it's vanilla & oak forward as others have said, more importantly it's a great demonstration of Glenmorangie's experimental nature. Their limited editions are always worth sampling.

    Deb & Larry,

We found this Glenmorangie 1993 Elanta 19 YO to be quite delightful! Oak dominates, but a very nice spicy taste and finish. We can recommend this Glenmorangie!

  • whiskyforum.co.uk,

I've bought two of these before christmas, and opened the first with a couple of friends It got mixed reviews. But mainly was very well received. Quite gentle on the nose (a small drop of water and a 15 min wait helps) most of us described the taste as old sweet leather and leaves a finish of a very spicy mulled wine. I don't think that second bottle will stay unopened for Long. Richard Jackson.

  • Scotch Fan,

The new oaky Glenmorangie. Fully matured in oak casks throughout its life before getting inside the bottle, which doesn't only classify this Glenmorangie as the most unique of the entire series but also the distinctly old school in style. As you may imagine, both nose and palate is oak dominant, including the lingering finish. Sweet tones are understated, don't be opening this bottle whilst with sherry-sweet expectations. Over-priced.
