Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting notes by Stuart P

    • Nose

Very light and clean, with notes of straw/hay, zingy lemon and grapefruit and heather, with a little cherry menthol lurking in the background.

    • Palate

Fresh! Punchy lemon zest accompanied by delicate honeyed fruit, sugared almonds, sweet pastry and cinnamon sweets.

    • Finish

Light and aromatic, with a clean streak of citrus-tinged acidity holding sway.

    • Comment

Perfect for the time of year, this is fresh, clean and aromatic. Very un-Aberlour like….

  • Tasting Notes by Billy A

    • Nose

Quite light, with hay and milled grain joined by poached green apple, slightly sweetened cream and freshly cut grass. As it sits in the glass the grassy notes come to dominate, suggesting summer meadows.

    • Palate

Very 'green', with lots of grass, new ferns and evergreen leaves. Quite hot at full strength, with underlying aniseed ball sweetness and spice. Water reveals a gentle sweetness, with light toffee notes, but does not remove all of the spice, leaving a cinnamon tingle.

    • Finish

A warming spiciness with digestive biscuits, sappy pine, sharp apple and a touch of dark chocolate.

    • Comment

Quite different to your 'normal' Aberlour, focusing on fresher fruity flavours, rather than the distillery bottlings' trademark rich, dried fruit. It works just as well, with weightiness from the spirit balanced by lighter and more delicate character from the cask.
