Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Note by Stuart P

    • Nose

The freshness of cut green apple, then that classic Clynelish waxiness takes hold, with honeyed peachiness, a little peppery spiciness and an appealing leathery note.

    • Palate

Much fuller than expected, with pink peppercorns and burnt sugar taking charge. The addition of water brings out lighter, cleaner flavours, as well as malty, biscuity notes. A lot going on here.

    • Finish

Powerful and spicy – but clean and precise – and long lasting.

  • Producer's Notes

    • Nose

Custard and crunchy apples, followed by signature notes of waxed jackets and a background peppercorn spice. With time, maple, runny honey and warm spice appear.

    • Palate

Biscuity, like custard creams, and full on the palate, with delicate spice that lifts the sweeter notes which are balanced against zesty citrus fruit.

    • Finish

A touch of chilli warmth lingers, while the rich texture allows more subtle brown sugar touches to come through.

A great dram, one of the better Clynelish I have tried. You could do a lot worse even at double the price - so do yourself a favour and buy it.

My Father bought me a bottle of this home to Australia from a recent trip overseas. I am still a novice when it comes to whisky but I can say I have never tried anything like this before. Its a lovely drop, I could just sit and nose it all night. I only have a little bit at a time on special occasions, with close friends,a little goes a long way.
