This unique liqueur became famous in the reign of King Edward VII when, at the request of the King's doctor, it was produced as a warming drink for His Majesty to take after winter morning rides in his new horseless carriage. The distinctive smooth ginger flavour is perfectly balanced by a pleasingly clean, dry finish.

By comparison to the original King's Ginger, the new product is brash - more like a punch in the throat than the old soothing and warming spirit. Very sad.
I was VERY disappointed with the new version of The King’s Ginger liqueur . The original was a divinely unique flavour but the updated version contains lemon which diminishes the taste of the ginger in the original. Why try to ‘improve’ an original perfect drink? I am sure King Edward VII would be most displeased.
The original King's Ginger is a delicious, warming, dry gingery drink. A perfect addition to your hip flask on a frosty morning! Sadly this has been impossible to purchase in the UK during the past year or sol Instead there has been a very poor version of it, still with the same name, but a much lower proof and an overpowering change of taste which leaves a cloying, sickly sweet lemon taste in the throat. Gone is the ginger "hit" which is a real winter warmer. Very disappointing and I would never again purchase this pale , sickly substitute if the original remains unobtainable.
