Splendid sipping rum - agree with the tasting notes: I’d add preserved prunes palate and cognac aroma. I don’t get the vanilla but that’s me. Not a heavy caramel flavor like the Guyana rums. Right now sipping it on a doorstep with friends in the Caribbean at 8pm at 28C. Enjoying it immensely.
Fantastic. Unlike some of the other Diplomatico releases, this has a perfect balance of sweetness (not too much, not too little). The body of the rum is great, and goes down a treat. Truly happy with my purchase.
Being once my favourite rum, but being turned off after seeing how much sugar is put into the Diplomatico rums- I decided to bite the bullet as I saw this at a great price, and boy... was it worth it. Ive a feeling this has been sweetened, as compaired to a foursquare, or bajan rum- is incredibly sweet, however- has one of *the* most surprising noses I've ever come across. It is not your usual Molasses deep, "heavy" rum, this is a light, sweet refreshing, Banana, foam banana, Cherry, sweets, gummy worm, apple, berry or light fruits, brandy-like grape/sherry On further inspection I get the usual, but *different* Plum, raisin, marzipan, light treacle, demerara sugar, cinder toffee, deep vanilla, treacle tart, clove, toffee, caramel, coffee, dark chocolate, cardiman, spices. I could sit here all day- The taste is incredible- but again, apparently sweetened (from a taster of non-sweetened rums atleast) which can be seen as a downside, howeverthe flavour I get from this rum is just blissful, and the added sugar aids the creamy, gorgeous mouth-feel, but does not take away from the beautiful taste of: Heavy vanilla, caramel, toffee, banana, cherry, apple, coffee, sherry, chocolate, and then the oak spiciness hits the top of your pallette, and thanks to the lower - proof, doesnt overwhelm. This is one for a special occasion, or a treat- I wish it was at 46-50% but even the snobbiest of foursquare efficienados need to try this out- even if its just a sample. Get yourself a sample at the very least.
