Glen Moray 2010

Amarone Finish / Warehouse 1 Release

A rich, red wine-influenced single malt from the legendary Warehouse 1 – where Glen Moray’s more experimental releases are matured. Finishing in a small parcel of Italian Amarone casks has layered this fruity Speysider with aromas of fig and chocolate which lead into a palate filled with cherries, brown sugar and oak.

Glen Moray 2013

Amontillado Finish / Warehouse 1 Release

Amontillado casks bring an earthy, nutty character to this entry in the Warehouse 1 series. Notes of hazelnut, tobacco leaves and leather fill the nose, perfectly capturing the distinctive profile of this popular sherry. On the palate we find buttery chocolate croissants and baking spices that persist over a long, dry finish.

Glen Moray 2014

Oloroso Cask / Warehouse 1 Release

In June of 2014 this single malt was filled into four oloroso sherry casks where it rested for the full term of maturation. The result is a big, bold dram in which Glen Moray’s hallmark flavours of fresh fruits and sweet malt are joined by liquorice, walnut oil and autumn leaves. A great choice for fans of heavily sherried whiskies.

About

Glen Moray

Originally founded as a brewery in the early 1800s, Glen Moray became a distillery in 1897 with the installation of two pot stills. Unfortunately, the owners focused most of their attention on sister distillery, Aberlour, and it closed in 1910. However, it reopened in 1923, after being bought by Macdonald and Muir, the owner of Glenmorangie.

For more than 80 years, Glen Moray was the experimental sibling to Glenmorangie. However, in 2008, it was sold to French drinks company La Martiniquaise and has since grown and developed as a single malt distillery in its own right.

In 2012, the owners installed a new pair of stills, taking the total from four to six, and in 2016 they built an entirely new still house, using cutting edge heat reclamation technology to increase the distillery’s efficiency. Experiments continue, with a warehouse full of interesting casks pushing against the limits of whisky regulations and creating great new spirit for the future.
