Green Spot 10 Year Old Single Pot Still
Product Description

This special-edition bottling celebrates the centenary of Midleton distillery’s iconic Green Spot pot still whiskey. Aged for a minimum of 10 years in bourbon barrels and sherry casks and bottled at a higher proof than the classic Green Spot, this is a fruity and expressive dram with a perfumed nose of apple, pear and vanilla. The palate shows a beautiful combination of orchard and tropical fruits with the hallmark earthy and spicy notes we love to find in pot still whiskey.

Show Your Colours

Green Spot was born at Mitchell & Son, a Dublin wine merchant, where casks of bonded whiskey were marked with coloured paint to indicate their ageing potential. As a nod to these origins, this limited-edition whiskey – longer-aged and higher in ABV than the regular Green Spot – comes adorned with a striking green brush stroke, courtesy of YesColours. This London-based paint brand has created its own Green Spot shade in collaboration with Midleton distillery to celebrate 100 years of one of Ireland’s truly iconic and enduring pot still whiskeys.

The Spot Whiskeys

Fruit, spicy pot still whiskies like Green Spot helped make Irish whiskey world-famous in the 19th century. But by the 20th century, this unique spirit had all but disappeared, with only Green Spot keeping the tradition alive. Happily, pot still whiskey has undergone a complete revival in recent years. Green Spot is now accompanied by other expression including the luxurious Yellow Spot – finished in sweet Malaga wine casks – the cask strength Blue Spot and a whole spectrum of other variants to explore.
