Product Description
Myken lies 32 kilometres off the coast of Norway in the Arctic Circle and, with 12 permanent residents, it is one of the most remote distilleries in the world. It was set up in 2013 by five couples who wanted to help sustain the island’s tiny population. They converted an old fish factory into what they now describe as the Whisky Cathedral. Here, the sea salt and wild weather shape the whisky.
This is the first 10-year-old whisky. It was laid down during the first months of production, when the labour was voluntary and they were still working for free. It is made from unpeated malted barley in a still heated by an open flame. The whisky is diluted with desalinated seawater from the Arctic Ocean.
