A new concept from Amrut. The spirit for Intermediate Sherry Matured starts life in a mix of ex-bourbon and virgin oak casks. Overrated and overpriced. I think that is the byword for all these silly expensive Amrut releases. This is too woody and too sherry focussed, and kind of raw at the same time. Springbank 12 cask strength (for instance) is more rewarding, better balanced, and better value for money.

I had the good fortune of trying this whisky at a festival tasting. I enjoyed the strong sherry influence in the whisky very smooth very long lasting after taste. It must have the Scottish big sherry hitters worried. If like me you like your whisky from a sherry cask then give this a go you will not be disappointed.

Tried today with Bill from Gordon+ Macphail, together with the 46%, and the fusion. ALL good, but this one especially - shame the people of East Anglia are unlikely to buy such yummy whisky

I Think they cant sell this in India due the fact that it exceeds the alcohol strength to stipulated 42%

Tried this at the Midlands Whisky Festival a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely amazing and real revelation! Picked myself up a bottle there and then!
