    Ploussard Arbois Pupillin 2019 / Domaine de la Renardiere

    This fruity, herbaceous red wine from Domaine de la Renardiere has been made with Ploussard grapes. Local to the Jura region of eastern France, Ploussard grapes create lightly coloured wines with fruity aromas of strawberries and raspberries, with a savoury, herbaceous edge. The palate is light and fresh, full of floral notes, perfect for summer evenings.

    Barbera's spiritual home is Piedmont in Northern Italy, where it develops full, bright red cherry notes that are not often replicated elsewhere. The Enigma changes all of that – it is one of the few Barberas produced outside of Italy that has developed that same purity and vibrancy of fruit. Cherries, sage, thyme, crunchy tannins and freshness - this is a wine that is perfect with roasted pork belly.

    Ben Glaetzer has become one of the hero's of the Australian wine scene with his big bold wines that are definitely not shy or retiring (a bit like him). The Bishop shiraz is Barossa 101 sourced from vines between 35 and 120 years old. With its dark brooding fruits, black pepper spice and pan roasted spices. The palate is full bodied and packed with dark fruits, liquorice and Asian spices. This wine like air so get it into a decanter or let it breathe and it will come to life.

    Ver Sacrum is one of the most exciting new wineries in Argentina focusing mainly on varietals that are not so commonly found in Argentina. They are bring back the Mediterranean varieties that were lost after the Malbec boom in the 1950s. This is 100% Monastrell – a grape of south French and Spanish fame. With aromas of cherry tart, leather, freshly made jam and bright florals this wine draws you in. The palate is light and bright with tangy cherry and cranberry and notes of potpourri.     Mike and Claudia Elze Weersing spent 15 years searching the world to find the perfect spot to grow grapes and they landed near Waikari in New Zealand. They work the land using the principles of Biodynamics and work naturally in the winery with little intervention. This wine is beautifully balanced and Burgundian like with hints of vanilla and buttered scones, toasted almonds and orange peel. The palate is as the nose but with an added layer of spice - cinnamon and nutmeg. Perfect for roast chicken or white fish roasted in wine.

    The Crossings source their fruit from the riverside vineyards of the Awatere Valley in Marlborough. The coolest and driest region. Try this with roasted port or duck or a lentil stew.
