Producer of the Year

The Heart Cut

Every year, we check that our Of The Year awards are showing the best in the industry. The world of whisky is changing, and we decided to create a new award this year to capture some of that change – Producer of the Year.

For our very first award, we have selected a whisky bottler which has been making waves since its founding in just 2023: The Heart Cut.

The Heart Cut is wife and husband duo Georgie Bell and Fabrizio Leoni: veterans of the drinks industry and lovers of whisky. After years of travelling around the world, discovering great spirits, they decided to share those experiences, founding The Heart Cut as a vehicle to get whiskies that are a bit off the beaten track into the hands of fans around the world.

The result is an award-winning independent bottler – winner of the Best Independent Bottler award at the World Whiskies Awards in both of The Heart Cut’s first two years of operation – which works directly with distilleries to select whiskies that are a bit different to everyone else’s. They are very worthy winners of our first Producer of the Year award.

Fielden 2019 4 Year Old English Single Malt Whiskey

£63.25

(£126.50 per litre)

You must be aged 18 or above to buy alcohol in the UK

This Fielden release is a classic example of what The Heart Cut do. Georgie and Fabrizio sat down with the Fielden team and tried a wide range of samples before settling on this intense sherry butt of whisky. It combines Fielden’s sweet and spicy rye with a rich, fudgey and fruity character from the cask, giving us a whisky that’s not quite like anything Fielden has released.
