    Palmer was established in 1947 by seven families who were orignially growers with vineyards in Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims. They are Champagnes that represent very good value for money. Palmer has an impressive collection of old vintages. The 2012 is an exceptional vintage with a really linear note that will reward those who have the patience to wait.

    The Leflaive family is renowned in Burgundy for the quality of their wines, so when they partnered with equally impressive Champagne producer Erick de Sousa – the results were bound to be good. Their love of Chardonnay is clear in the quality of these wines from the Cotes des Blancs. This particular wine comes from the village of Mesnil sur Oger. On the nose it has a lovely chalky, green apple note with touches of peach blossom. On the palate richer fruits come through – golden delicious apples, confit lemon and a lovely salty tang on the finish. Try this with fish in a white sauce.
