Four RosesAmerican Whiskey
By 1941 the brand was the property of the Seagram group. When that group was bought by Diageo and Pernod Ricard and broken up, Four Roses went up for sale and was bought by the Japanese brewing group Kirin, who were already the distributors of the brand in Asia.
Curiously, although it is one of the world's most successful bourbon brands, for more than sixty years after the Seagram takeover in 1941 until recently American consumers were only able to buy Four Rosees at the distillery, as all the stock was exported to international markets. Instead, a cheap blended version of Four Roses, made by adding whisky to neutral grain spirits (i.e. vodka) was perodcued by Seagram's at various locations for the domestic market.
