Customer Rating

A terrific small-batch bourbon from Four Roses – and in this case, Small Batch means just that – only four casks are used in the construction of each release. Sweet and spicy, with a generous dash of vanilla, this is a treat.

Excellent value bourbon – easily in my top five. Very smooth with an almost floral aftertaste. Highly recommended.

Fruity with some honey drizzle on the nose. Creamy mouthfeel with moderately sweet berries and spice. Finish is long, citrusy and smooth. Great bourbon for the price!

A light bourbon with plenty of honeyed notes. For the price it is difficult to find any better for this value. A very enjoyable option. Something new to me.

Light and citrus on the nose with that familiar caramel. For the money, this is something special. Creamy and smooth, fruity with that caramel flavour running through the middle. This goes down like it’s going out of fashion!! It gets full marks simply for the amount of complexity you get for the money.

Carlos pretty much summed it up. Put some of this in reserve.

Elegant in its own style . Smooth with a rough edge . Sweet just enough . Sour as a bourbon has to be . Builds in your mouth and explodes in your throat and taste buds . Price quality relation more then perfect . I used to spend money on w such as dalwhinie and or lagavulin but nothing beats us bourbon .

Without fault. Great example of bourbon. It's because of bottles like this I drink 90% bourbon. Scotch doesn't match the value. And you'd have to spend three times as much for a bottle of good Japanese whisky. Small Batch is an easy sipper. It doesn't drink like a 45% no burn at all - which may not suit some. Moreish and thankfully not 'trendy'. Let others buy their 'craft' stuff and I'll have plenty of this.

Love this! So smooth. Lovely maple spice. Cracking value. You can chase Pappy and or spend ?100 retail but this is world class. EH Taylor at ?100....I'd rather have an arm full of FRSB. This represents the democratic charm of bourbon. I drink 90% bourbon now as the value compared to scotch is a no brainer, for me at least.

Excellent value bourbon, very smooth and well priced. Beats any of the Jack range incl the single barrel/sinatra select etc

Probably the best bourbon I''ve had. And I''ve had Four Roses Single Barrel, Gentleman Jack, Jack Daniels Single Barrel, Wild Turkey 81 & 101, Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare 10. Actually it''s a very tough call between this and Eagle Rare, but given the price, I would say FR Small Batch is a pretty amazing whiskey. I just matches perfectly my expectations on sweetness/dryness balance. It''s so smooth, so round, so vanilla, so long finish, so ... perfect.

A phenomenal bourbon for the price. Love whiskybitch''s review of this on youtube - she nails it. Really floral and sweet with a lovely warmth that just makes this a perfect late evening comfort dram. Would recommend.

Easily my favorite bourbon at the moment. Sweet and spicy and packed full of flavour, to the point where you just want to hold it in your mouth as long as possible...

Remarkably smooth with a twist of smokiness along with complex undertones. This is excellent value for money & I have found myself adding a bottle to subsequent orders since first trying. I recently received a gift of a bottle of the single barrel and although I enjoyed, I personally prefer the small batch.

Was fortunate enough to attend a Whisky Exchange tasting last year, the Four Roses stand was there. We tasted this against FR Yellow, Single Barrel and Single Barrel 2011. Overall winner was SB 2011, but this ran very close and beat the normal Single Barrel for me. We tasted at other bourbon stands, and this was only second of the whole day (as above). An amazing bourbon, and for this price.....WOW!!! If you haven't already tried it, I guarantee you will be won over

Wow ! This has to be the best value for money bourbon in the entire Whiskyverse. The taste, the smoothness and the sweetness just blew me away. Should cost at least 3 times the price it is.

This Bourbon is amazing. I'm usually into Scotch single malts, but after trying this I'm hooked, the taste is addictive! and the effect seems to be very uplifting also. I was playing some David Lynch soundtrack CD's whilst drinking this, and the two go so well together. Believe me a bottle of this does not last long, just make sure to drink plenty of nice mineral water on the side.

I can only agree with Aleksej...Superb value for the money. I'll sure get me some more...

  • Aleksej (Latvia) 17 April 2010

This is the first bourbon I've tasted in my life, and I must say it is GREAT! Wish I had ordered more than a single bottle.
