Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose
Unripe melon and Granny Smith apples – tart, zingy and refreshing – followed by honeyed fruit. Richer aromas of millionaire’s shortbread, clove and pink peppercorn, but the overall fruitiness is the star here, with heady notes of banana and pineapple.
Palate
Richer than expected, with vanilla and toffee softening the palate. Ripe, perfumed notes of orange, melon and strawberry, with some candied citrus peel and oatmeal biscuits.
Finish
Clean and refreshing with lemon and orange the dominant notes.
Comment
Benriach whiskies are all about the fruit, and this doesn’t disappoint. It’s a touch richer than some I’ve tried, but that fruit core is the mainstay of this dram, albeit fruit of a variety of forms.

26 year old speyside for under ?100? Nice! Can't really argue against the value for money here. It definitely lacks the presence and intensity of some of the more impressive 25 yo single malts but is an elegant, smooth and aromatic whisky.
