Once a solid 15yo. Used to really enjoy this one, it was miles better than the 10yo. Their recent decision to reduce this to 40% and chill filter it is disgrace and frankly, it is now ruined. Tasted this recently and it has gone majorly downhill due to the rebranding and new presentation. Lost its body, lost a lot of its character; just flat now. SpeyBurn is now lost
At 46% natural colour and unchill filtered makes this a great option IMO. The tasting notes are spot on, this is a very nice dram to spend a bit of time with. I can't decide whether to re order or try the 18 yr next.
Smooth and soft, a touch of chocolate and a short, soft, spicy finish.
Having tried a taster bottle of this, I have to agree with the people that gave it a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2017. It is a lovely dram, that hits all the notes it claims. It reminded sort of me of a more refined and complex Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera. However, I find it hard to justify an extra ?20 for this extra flavor over the Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera. You get a dram almost as nice for almost 1/2 the price. If money is of no concern then get the Speyburn it IS nicer. No question a well deserved silver medal winner, but if you can't push the boat of for it then the Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera is a good substitute / budget equivalent.
