Meet the Maker: A Masterclass with Champagne Henriot

A house with serious history, Henriot was founded in 1808 by the young widow, Apolline Henriot who took her vineyards in the heart of the fabled Montagne de Reims and used them as the foundation of a champagne house and dynasty. These Pinot dominated vineyards would be added to with a further three Chardonnay filled plots in the celebrated Cote de Blancs. More recently, the house has been a leader in innovation and adaptation trying to find ways to preserve Apolline's vision to celebrate and share the beauty of every vineyard. 

The house currently farms 30 hectares of its own vines and works with growers across another 65. This close relationship to the soil and the vine is unusual in a larger house, and means that Henriot has much greater control and can make significant adjustments to drive towards even greater quality and to preserve the essence of Champagne in a changing world.
