Having previously released single casks of port-finished peaty single malt, Benriach have now introduced Solstice, a 15yo small batch of the same. Described as heavily peated, the whiskies used for Solstice were aged first in ex-bourbon casks before a finishing period in aged tawny port pipes. Bottled without colouring or chill-filtration.

Great mix of strong peat and sweet port . Devine !
It took me a whole bottle before I could taste them there strawberrys, but !! yea i know what you mean, Mmmm bit peckish now.
Wow! What an incredible journey this whisky offers. Such an experience - Firstly the colour is astonishing - a lovely ruby pink. Both nose and palate - Peat followed by a fruitiness that lingers together perfectly. Lovely balance to this. I totally agree with 1st reviewer some of the lovely lingering finishes is from a Strawberry jam on slightly charred toast. I hope Benriach bring more of this. Exceptional stuff!
Raspberry Jam mixed with the soot stain off the back off a mining donkey... A taste that will last but mellow with a deep tar finish with the sweet port ending producing a complex and very enjoyable experience. A Whisky to have with time on your hands.
Very much enjoyed this whisky. Much peatier on the palate than on the nose. I got a lot of sweet strawberry notes, it reminded me a little of strawberry jam on toast.
