Customer Reviews
Lucky, that's very common phenomena in many cask strength and unchillfiltered whiskies. Nowadays I always decant first all cask strength and unchillfiltered whiskies (after a while I pour it back to the bottle). Often, there is a huge difference before and after decanting, because of oxygen influence.
I opened this up for a dram OMG ! dull , dead, lifeless. what Have i done! Returning 48 hours later I wondered whether the pixies had switched bottles. This whisky is Epic , capital E! Strong, smooth , dentists waiting room on a chez long. This whisky is my forbidden mistress ....
Pour a dram and hold it in your hand, gently swilling and sniffing it for 10 mins. It goes through many stages but ends up a sweet charcoal, old fashion cough candy. Tastes sublime. Complex and strong, but not overpowering. if i was tasting this blind I think I would ID it as Caol ila(my favorite). Not typical Laphroig because of the sweetness, but has much more to offer compared to the OB 10 year old cask strenth.
