Product Description
A rather delicious 1985 vintage Bowmore bottled from a single hogshead by Speciality Drinks for the Single Malts of Scotland range. Medium-bodied, with oak, fruit and some restrained floral notes, as opposed to the massive lavender sometimes exhibited by Bowmores of this era. A relatively gentle, mellow dram.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes by Tim F
Nose
Big natural sweet hit straight out of the glass - like crunchie bars, chocolate and honeycomb. Then becomes bready, with medicine cabinet bandaginess, hay, fabric plasters - heavenly! Wet flannel, flinty stones and generous rich oak, then some lovely tropical citrus fruit, hot-buttered toast and a faint whiff of smoke.
Palate
Mediumweight. Shortbread, mandarins, oak, hot-buttered toast, hay and more than a hint of 'Jamaican herbs' (!). Gets quite sweet and floral (sweetpea, not lavender), but in a balanced way, not dominating like some of the more notorious Bowmores of this era. The smoke is there in the background, but relatively restrained.
Finish
Medium-length with some flintiness and wood ash among the fading bandages and fresh fruit.
Comment
A mellow but characterful Bowmore with the expected floral, fruity and oaky notes in good balance.
