Thanks TWE for the clarification. I guess a whisky doesn't have to be matured entirely in a single cask to be described accordingly...just bottled from a single cask as you say, even if it might have only spent several months in that particular port pipe 'single cask'. A bit cheeky of BenRiach and any other distillery that advertises it's product this way. For me, I'd describe it as a double-cask matured whisky, nothing more, nothing less.
@Adam, that's a good question. Even though the whisky was transferred from its original cask to a port pipe, it was only bottled from one cask. We hope this answers your question.
How can they claim this to be matured in a single cask while at the same time admitting that it's been only 'finished' in a Tawny port pipe which implies it was previously matured in different casks? A bit misguiding or am I just confused? TWE please elaborate. Thanks
