Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Producer's Note
Nose
Fantastic waves soft golden syrup over dates and rum raisins hold a gentle tangerine and ground almond back note. Toasted oak with a dusting of cocoa adds a rich warmth and depth.
Palate
Crisp barley and a freshly sawn oak spice burst through ripe plums and golden sultanas. A delicate note of dried apricots and candied peel adds a fantastic sweet, zesty balance. Subtle touches of milk chocolate soften the long expressive finish.
Finish
A perfect harmony of classic Highland characters and elegant sherry influences.

Wow. Ripe cherries and almost overripe plums off a recently polished old oak table. A splurge of bitter orange marmalade, and gooseberry! A hint of peat…and that's just the f***in' nose! It sits very lightly 'pon de palate given it's 54.3%. The nose translates well with extra spice and orange on the finish... green fruits join he party. A touch of Cadbury's Dairy Milk, and still that lovely old oak table in The background! A big whisky, but a gentle giant. More complex than many sherry cask whiskies. Very moreish. If there's none left come sunday you'll know I missed my four weekend gigs… I think Glendronach rises to the top in terms of sherry cask whiskies. Tried many, owned three. This follows the excellent 15YO Revival, and an out of body 1993 PX cask drunk (!) with my father in law at Christmas…
Reasonably priced cask strength sherry monster. I have tried all three batches and quality stays the same. I like most of the GlenDronach bottlings and this is just missing the character to earn four stars but I will probably buy bottle from the next batch anyway...
Affordable quality sherry monster. Produced in small batches, no chill-filtration and bottled at 54.9% ABV, I prefer to enjoy this cask strength dram with a splash of spring water at room temperature. Those who can take it without water should let it rest in glass for 10 min. and come back to a more mellow version of it once oxidation does the trick. Water brings out the more mellow, fruity flavors. Overall another decent dram from Glendronach and it is well worth a look.
