Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes from Stuart P
Nose
Extremely complex, with beguiling notes of melon and apple, then richer notes of brioche, dark chocolate and sweet spice.
Palate
Rich and mouthfilling. Intense flavours of Demerara sugar, crème brûlée, espresso, clove and cinnamon. Great balance between sweet spice and dryness from the oak.
Finish
The Christmas spices and toasty oak notes linger for a long time.
Comment
Even though this is a blend of some very old rum, the oak notes never dominate. Instead, what we have is a delicious rum packed with fruit and spice, with no single element taking over. A masterclass in blending from one of the industry's legends. A highly appropriate name, too!.

A bit overwhelming at first - an intense chocolate clove-like taste - grows on you, but eye-opening aged rum.
It has a slightly musty note which lingers a very long time. That said, this has the longest finish of any drink I've ever had, and it seems to constantly change long after you have sipped the last bit. I was still getting little aftertastes over 30 minutes later. It is fascinating in its complexity - perhaps too much so for the likes of me. I'm happy sipping a Mount Gay XO or a Master Select and not havng to think too much about it. That said, there's still a part of my which wants to click "Buy" even at ?200 per bottle. To sum up ... there are two aspects of this rum which separate it from other great rums ... its rarity and the length of its finish.
Fine rum in a beautiful bottle. Very 'Appletons'in style. (Which is a good thing). Probably still prefer 5 bottles of 12 year old though if given the choice.
My hubby is beyond being speechless And that is saying something for him. It is beyond awesome
The best spirit I have ever tasted!
