Barceló is produced by Ron Barceló S.R.L. a distillery in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic. A young Julián Barceló from Spain arrived in Santo Domingo and founded Barceló & Co in 1929, soon setting out to follow his dream and producing one of the first rums on the island.

In 1974, Don Julián Barceló handed over the business to his nephew Miguel Barceló and six years later, in 1980, Ron Barceló Imperial was launched, a premium product and the most internationally awarded Dominican rum. In the 90’s Barceló & Co expanded greatly and in 2006 the company changed name to ‘Ron Barceló S.R.L.’ but still has members of the Barcelo family remaining on the board of directors. Barcelo Rum is now sold in over 50 countries around the world.
