CaroniRum
Once located in the heart of Trinidad's Caroni plains, the distillery opened in 1918 as a single estate plant, processing its sugarcane. While initially the estate was equipped with cast iron stills, they got eventually replaced by single pot and column stills, producing the now famed heavy and earthy rums. Just about a year after the distillery closed in 2002, Luca Gargano came across the boarded-up estate by chance, discovering the warehouses full of rum. Over the next few years the barrels were purchased, its content bottled and released. As the category of premium rum is steadily growing globally, Caroni bottlings are increasingly more sought after by fans and collectors alike.
