Created in 1846 by Joseph Dubonnet as a way to encourage French soldiers to drink quinine, Dubonnet is a bitter wine aperitif that has become a well-known part of drinking culture. Since its heyday in the 1970s, it has continued to acquire famous fans, including Queen Elizabeth II and her mother.
