Customer Rating

A heavily-peated single malt from Jura Distillery, matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, Prophecy is a sweet and smoky whisky. Aromas of floral heather, brazil nuts and salty sea air fill the nose, and the palate offers notes of smoky bacon, maple syrup, liquorice and dried fruit.

This whisky is named for an island prophecy, predicting the downfall of the Campbell clan, who ruled over the island for many generations. This prophecy stated that the last of the Campbells would leave the island with one eye and all his worldly possessions in a single cart, pulled by a white horse.

Delightful drinker ... bought a bottle in Edinburgh in April. Didn’t last long!

Very very nice. A slightly antiseptic nose with a warm hint of smoke. Very smooth with a slightly peaty/oily and very pleasant aftertaste. I would most definitely recommend it.

I tried this malt last week at my uncle's house. Given it says 'Heavily Peated', I was expecting an Ardbeg-ian level of peat. But honestly, it has richly sweet taste and an oily, briny feel but the peat wasn't as explosive as I thought it would have been. It was very synonymous with neighbouring whiskies from Islay like a Bowmore or a Lagavulin but still hesitant to buy a bottle though.

my first bottle of prophecy and it has pushed all the other peated whiskeys into the background just outstanding i find it hard to believe that some people down rate it maybe they are just true whisky drinkers

Sweet and menthol-peaty. Oddly cheesy like all Jura malts so far in my books. I wouldn't bother the tasting notes, not value for money.

Love the ultra briney ness, love the peatiness but somehow it just feels disconnected in the middle...I rate it 3.5/5 one thing is though it tastes mature, so the NAS isn't too bad on this one.

Considering Jura''s reputation, this is not a bad show. Sticky toffee notes and mentholic peat still won''t make a happy marriage.

Medium peat. Smell of iodine, ocean water, rubbing alcohol. Dry and smoky. Really over powering. See if this is up your alley.

My favorite malt to date, i have been getting in to malt whiskys over the last few years and with starting with the lighter ones and building my pallet up to appreciate the much smoker and peaty er ones. This is my true favorite so fare, but my question is there many other malts around that are much more smoker and peatyer than this, ive tried others ie: big peat and ardbeg 10yr and i personally don't think there as powerful as this. Any advise will be great. Thanks.

My absolute favorite. I swear I taste a hint of pine, then a lovely full sweetness. This is a marvelous, rich dram.

the guy from the 26th March, maybe you tried Superstition, not Prophecy? Check other Isle of Jura whiskies here, Superstition has Ankh symbol.

I0m not exactly an EXPERT in whikies, but this one.. you just "fall in love".. Strong but smooth, it leaves you spirit with the pure spirit and aroma of JURA. I had a bottle but it had the ANKH symbol. I wonder if it's the same...

Great waves of Arbroath Smokies hit the nose, followed by intense peat and sublime sweetness, on the palate. No need for this to be diluted to release the inner beast!! Fantastic stuff, a great release and IMO, one for the Islay lovers to have a crack at.
