Was used to this dark rum with Thums Up in Bangalore for many years till I moved to UK & was missing it.Slowly got used to Captain Morgan & would always ask my friends to get me a bottle when they visited India. Glad to know it is now available in UK.

Delicious - first had in Langen, Germany after a lovely curry. Best served neat, warmed over a glass of hot water

The best ever rum. All Bacardis and McDowells of the world give a synthetic feeling while Old Monk's appeal is so natural, and so close to heart.
-
I was introduced to Old Monk Rum in my local Indian Restaurant, when working in Hamburg Germany. Drunk neat it was a perfect post meal drink! When I returned to the UK, working for an Indian company, I received a couple of bottles from Indian colleagues. Good to know it is available now in the UK.

I love this Rum. I like it best with Coke.
-
Not for drinking neat in my opinion but wouldn't expect that for the price.

Legend! One needs to take a sip to experience what a legend rum taste like. Great with Cola.

Goes great with cola

Serve straight ice cold, best rum I've ever drank

Bought this one as wanted to try and Indian rum and liked the bottle design to add to my collection, was surprised by it though. Smooth, great taste and value!
-
This is best for both pocket and taste buds

The added caramel is way too overwhelming IMO.

Having only paid the equivalent of ?1.50 a litre for this in India it seems wildly expensive! Very good, easy drinking rum.

I have previously drank Woods Dark Navy Rum however, Old Monk comes in as good with a nose of vanilla bouquet. It is just not as potent at 40% by volume as opposed to Woods at 57%. It merits my vote as is cheaper and as good a tasting.

The distilery which produces this OLD MONK was earlier developed and maintained by british empire during their ruling period. But after independence this is maintained by indians . And dont go to its lower prices , it gives you better taste than the higher ones

Every home bar in India will have this, if someone does not have a bar at home one will have Old Monk in some corner, that is now a home bar. It is so inexpensive that it would be surprising not to have one. Excellent for cocktails. There is an issue with its cap with bottles soled in India, but ones for export have a plastic cap.

The humble monk always rules. The best rum ever.

Though my favorite rum of all comes from Barbados, Old Monk here in the U.S. is my perennial backup. It always seems to have a somewhat loose cap after opening, but it comes from a long way off so that's forgiven!
