Long awaited in the UK and with a big following in the USA, this is Jack Daniel's honey and whiskey liqueur. A mix of regular Old No 7 and a spiced honey liqueur, it's got spice, sweetness, floral undertones and a long smooth finish. Drink over ice, chilled or even in a cup of coffee – it's rather tasty.

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Billy A

Nose: Pungent honey right off the bat – a freshly opened jar of crystallised honey, with a touch of earthiness to it – fudge, biscuits (British ones), floral hints and some allspice.

Palate: Thick and oily texture, with dark caramel (both runny and solid shards), nutmeg and allspice. The flavours remain rich and dark, with sweet milky coffee, dark chocolate and demarara sugar lightened by some candied lemon hints. There's also, as you might expect, a rich and sweet honey undertone beneath it all – lightly pungent and floral, with a real honey flavour.

Finish: Spicy and sweet, with cinnamon heat, runny honey and vanilla fudge.

Comment: Not as sweet or sharp as most honey whiskey liqueurs, with real honey flavour, rich sweetness and gentle spice.

There's vanilla, cinnamon, and... oh, right, honey! The honey here is not shy, but not generic, either, there's a nice floral, herbal complexity to it. Drinks smooth and warm, not overly sweet for 35%, and the honey's here, as is some dialed-back cinnamon and a dash of cocoa in the finish. A late breath revives everything. The best of the American honey-whiskey drinks to date. 89 Points

Very enjoyable and has become my new favorite as a nightcap before turning in. I pour 2 oz over two ice cubes and sip it slowly - so relaxing!

Tried it when I couldn't get my regular Jim Beam Honey. Enjoyed the difference. A deeper, richer taste. Neither is better than the other, just different.

Dear friends, before scoldind the "overall sweetness" of this luxury thing please read the label - it says "honey liqueur", which supposed to be sweet, and it is really first class liqueur, where honey flavours remain with delicious whiskey notes. Flavours of Summer flower meadow and confectionery factory from my childhood. Thank you Jack Daniel's.

It's G-R-E-A-T-!-!-! I have always liked JD's Old No 7, especially with a beer as a chaser, and though I may never wish to drink JD's Tennessee Honey with a beer, I would be willing to try it with just about anything else, and -- of course (as others have amply noted!) -- it's GREAT just as it is!!!!!!! (Count 'em!!!!!!! Um, 7 being a magic number... eh, JD??????? [Count 'em!!!!!!!])

It's what I always imagined "ambrosia" would taste like, when I read about it in books on mythology.

Whisky brought an unexpected joy to my early middle age. Having imbibed much, and many, in the ensuing years I assumed the annoying pretentiousness of an aficionado of usquebaugh. Take it from an enlightened one. If an Angel cried on your shoulder as they carried you to your heaven, the tears reaching your lips would surely taste of this nectar. Divine indeed.

The beverage is perfect! Thick, Tasty and not to strong. It is great for those who are not heavy drinkers, or those who like something just smooth and delicious!
