Tasting Notes by Rocky
Creamy with vanilla joined by tropical fruit notes of pineapple and mango with the peat smoke, once again, in the background.
Warming, with a creamy texture and notes of sweet vanilla, honeydew melon, backed up by peat smoke and an intense maltiness.
Long, with the peat slowly building.
A great whisky for the forthcoming colder nights, this is warming, and while the peat is more pronounced than the five previous whiskies, at no stage is it overpowering.

I'm no expert but I wanted to try something new...boy, what a punch. This beauty packs a lot of heat but it carries the nose and flavour with it so you don't get a bumpy ride and you land smoothly at the end. It's definitely one for a cold night and with every sip the heat is more forgiving...and then you get a chance to taste the sweet behind the peat.
You have to love it dry and smoky to enjoy this whisky. But if you do, you''ll really enjoy it! Very pleasant nose (my wife just can''t stop smelling it when I pour myself a glass), the palate is quite what you would expect from a 60? young islay : very peaty, smoky, a bit marine and woody. I''m not an expert, so I''m not going to pretend I tasted some grapefruit or whatever. The final, on the other hand, is really what I was hoping for. Long, very smoky and leatherish, it''s like the part of your mouth that touched the whisky is completely dry. Loved it.
Technically a very good quality malt. However considering Kilchoman sky high standards this is a bit too dry and ashy. I''m not a friend of sweet malts, but this needs some sweetness to make it balanced malt. Devoted peatheads only, still eagerly waiting the next cask strength edition.
