Product Description
Royal Brackla was the first distillery to be allowed to use the 'Royal' title, and 2015 saw it get its own range of single malts. Part of the Last Great Malts series, the 16 Year Old is finished in first-fill oloroso sherry casks and is sweet and spicy, with a hint of smoke in the mix, too.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose
Clean, bright aromas of fresh fruit – green apple, melon and pear – followed by warming notes of honey- and toffee-covered sponge cake. A touch of light, fresh floral notes, too, with a hint of ginger and cinnamon.
Palate
Honeyed fruit at first, then warmer, spicy notes of cinnamon, ginger and clove. Very clean and bright – the fruit and spice leap from the glass. Nice toffee richness, too.
Finish
The warming spicy fruit lingers.

Boring and does not do anything for me at all. It’s just a well rounded balanced whisky with a little bit of PX finish. Quite oaky tannins are high with a dry finish. However I do think that this has potential if were finished for longer in a sweet desert wine barrel like a Sauternes wine so as base whisky it would be excellent and is a prime candidate. I’m going to try the 21 french oak finish but I hope it’s been finished in cognac barrels and not a red wine due to tannins already being high.
Received a gift bottle of Ben Brackla 16 year old malt whisky. Absolutely superb and most enjoyable with a small drop of water. Was so good my bottle is finished and I will be buying another.
Just tried this 16 YO version. Fabulous whisky, super smooth and rich, lots of underlying subtleties.
Absolute class.
Ordered from this site, which was very easy. I an a fan of the 12 year old but the 16 has an extra layer of complexity. Absolutely stunning Scotch. It's much more interesting than many older whiskies, lots of fruit and hint of oak.
